The 2015 Global Scrum Gathering in Phoenix finished up yesterday. To keep the momentum and conversations on Scrum going, Lextech will be hosting a local Scrum meetup next week on Tuesday, May 12th, 5 – 7pm.
The Scrum User Group discussion topic is freedom and creating an environment that maximizes potential for yourself and others. Agile life isn’t as clean as the philosophy. We’ll get right down to it with real-life development problems. Here are some of challenges and questions the User Group leaders will be talking about:
– The tyranny of the urgent – What does a team do when requirements and technology change so rapidly that a sprint never gets completed as committed?
– Fear of making mistakes – How is accountability scaled beyond the PO/Team relationship in a large project?
– Business as usual – Our titles have changed but nothing seems to be different. Why did Scrum fail?
– Process rigidity – We do all the ceremonies of Scrum, but all our other bad habits continue. How do we disrupt our own organization if we are part of it?
With an eye to the past, we will look at how to optimize current environments and adopt a forward-thinking approach to Scrum.
