Sonic Automotive, Inc., a Fortune 500 company based in Charlotte, N.C., is one of the nation’s largest automotive retailers, specializing in new and pre-owned cars. EchoPark, a new Sonic company, sells pre-owned cars exclusively. Enterprise mobile is central to their wider business strategy.
Sonic wanted to break down the barriers and stereotypes of the pre-owned sales environment and needed a visual retail solution to engage customers with immediate, up-to-date information. They had an existing video screen and app solution, the Imagine Bar, that was performing poorly on several levels: architecture, search, and speed.
Lextech leveraged experience from creating Sonic’s Virtual Lot app, a visual car catalogue, to improve the Imagine Bar. Lextech redesigned the app, retained the overall Imagine Bar branding, and fundamentally improved the experience by recreating it as a native app. This new native solution removed a piece of redundant hardware, further reducing support costs. Additionally, the overall user experience (UX) was enhanced by adding filter search ability, a side-by-side car comparison function, and the ability to import competitor used car profiles for additional comparisons.
